Biography
I am a professional tour guide working independently for inbound tour operators and local tour companies and also the National trust of Australia (Victoria).
As a tour guide I take tours of Melbourne and environs including the Yarra Valley, Ballarat, the Great Ocean Road and Philip Island. My role at the National Trust is taking Heritage Walking tours of the city and as a volunteer guide at Government House.
I have been a member of IAA for the past 3 years and believe that it is a worthwhile association providing links in all areas of interpretation and a valuable net working organisation.
I joined the executive at the AGM in New Zealand and hope that I am able to contribute to the organisation in this role while helping promote tour guiding too. I believe that IAA would be a valuable organisation for other tour guides to belong as it is a truly national organisation and would provide broad net working opportunities.
On a personal level I live in Melbourne. I am married to a medical research scientist and have lived in the UK, the East and West Coasts of the USA and Adelaide. My two children are married and have children and one of my greatest delights when not working is to have them come to visit and stay overnight. I am an avid quilter using my overseas trips to gather fabric and ideas and as we live close to the city centre our country property provides me with lots of gardening time. We have a large vegie garden at the farm and it is wonderful to bring back to the city fresh vegetables for the week. The grandchildren love to help pick the crops and help to cook them too.
I am looking forward to working with the executive and serving members from Victoria. |
