Biography

Regan has worked in interpretive planning and exhibition design for over 10 years. Originally a scientist, she ran off to join the circus (the Questacon Science Circus) in 1998. This was part of her Graduate Diploma in Science Communication through the Australian National University, and her first taste of public engagement.

Bitten by the travel bug, in 1999 Regan travelled to the UK where she worked as a researcher and exhibition developer for two major new science centres (in Bristol and Leicester). In 2001 she joined the newly expanded Interpretation Department of UK exhibition design firm Haley Sharpe. In this role she developed interpretive plans, exhibition concepts and site master plans for museums and cultural heritage sites in the UK, North America and the Middle East.

Regan returned to Australia in 2007, where she has worked in interpretive planning and exhibition development – both freelance and working for Exhibition Studios (an IA corporate member).

Regan has recently commenced a PhD through the School of Tourism at the University of Queensland, with draft thesis title: Design Factorsin the Museum Visitor Experience.

In addition to being Vice President of IA, Regan is Secretary of the South Australian Branch of Museums Australia, and a committee member of MA's Evaluation and Visitor Research Special Interest Group.
